Hi, I'm Jupiter Ishida, founder and guide of New Tavy, and an actor who believes every journey should be full of laughter and discovery.
I've traveled to 73 countries and all 47 prefectures of Japan, and guided over 1,000 guests from around the world. My guests have ranged from families and honeymooners to executives and VIP travelers. Whoever you are, my confidence is the same: I will find the Japan that makes you smile.
Before becoming a guide, I spent years on stage as an actor. That experience taught me how to tell stories, read the room, and turn an ordinary moment into something memorable. It's the same skill I bring to every tour.
Today, nothing makes me happier than seeing guests from all over the world enjoy Japan with the trusted team we've built.
My tours are relaxed, personal, and full of heart, like exploring Japan with a good friend.
When I was a university student, I hitchhiked all the way around Japan. That journey showed me how wonderful this country truly is, and I remember thinking: I want more people to know this Japan.
After graduating, I worked at a major IT company and then at a startup. But during the pandemic, I decided to chase what I really wanted to do. I quit my job and moved to Canada to start my career as an actor.
After returning to Japan, I appeared in international films, and someone I met on set introduced me to the world of tour guiding. That was the beginning of everything.
I fell in love with guiding. The more tours I led, the more I wanted to give travelers an even deeper experience of Japan, and I knew I could. So I founded New Tavy Corp. and obtained a travel agency license in Tokyo.
What makes me happiest today is this: the dream I found on that hitchhiking trip, sharing the Japan I love with the world, is now my job.

Some of my favorite moments as a guide are the small ones. A guest tasting real ramen for the first time. A quiet conversation with a shop owner in a back alley. The look on someone's face when Mt. Fuji suddenly appears through the clouds. These are the moments I want to share with you.
